Job description

Mallaig Boatyard Ltd is looking for an experienced Welder / Plant Fitter to join their small but busy team in Corpach.

The boatyard carries out repair and maintenance work for fishing, passenger and aquaculture vessels across the West Coast, and their new slipway and yard have created room for further growth.

This is a full time, permanent role working a minimum of 40 hours a week from 08:30 to 17:00, Monday to Friday, with overtime available.

The work is varied and hands on, involving welding, fabricating and fitting tasks to support vessel maintenance and wider yard operations.

You will weld and fabricate components to specification.

You will read and interpret engineering instructions and work to high safety standards.

You will use hand tools and machinery relevant to the role.

You will work both independently and as part of a small team.

You will liaise with colleagues, management and external providers when required.

What you need
  • Recognised welding or plant fitting qualifications.
  • Proven experience in welding and plant fitting.
  • Confidence operating relevant tools and machinery.
  • Strong attention to detail and a steady, safety-conscious approach.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • Knowledge of boats or marine environments is an advantage.
