Job summary

A leading recruitment agency is seeking a Production Team Leader in Heckmondwike. The successful candidate will ensure effective operations, meet production targets, and promote safety culture within the team. This position offers 39 hours of work per week, Monday to Friday.

JOB SUMMARY

The Production Team Leader will be responsible for supporting the Production Manager/s in ensuring the most effective and safe operations, meeting targets and producing quality products. They will also lead their team, setting the best examples possible.

Main Responsibilities
  • Be present in the Area/Cell as much as possible - have a presence within the team constantly.
  • Ensuring the most effective & efficient distribution of labour in the team and across site.
  • Ensure WDDLs (When Down Do Lists) are followed to maximise labour efficiencies.
  • Manage the hourly, daily and weekly Schedules to ensure key bottleneck areas never stop and the weekly plan and OTIF targets are delivered.
  • Performing Informal Discussions with team members to tackle issues.
  • Performing Team Briefings when required, ensure attendance is documented if necessary.
  • To be responsible during overtime hours that the expected work is done efficiently meeting required output to plan.
  • Ensuring team members within the Cell are working in safe environment and are following H&S precautions - PPE worn at all times, work area clean and tidy.
  • Ensuring that team members adhere to the company's Policies & Procedures, at all times.
  • Escalation of any issues to higher management, when necessary and in a timely manner.
  • Completing Daily Production checks sheet and updating local area display Boards.
  • Support the investigation of Customer Complaints & Remakes immediately, find perm' route cause fixes.
  • Ensuring team is working towards agreed production targets and reporting out daily counts etc.
  • Actively interacting with colleagues and Management.
  • T&D (Training & Development) - support development of Cell plans and validate training.
  • Ensure the highest Housekeeping/5S standards and 'Clean as you go' is enforced & coached.
  • Undergo Lean Manufacturing training to be able to promote a Lean Manufacturing mindset.
  • Support and mentor your Team members and communicate with them re individual Performance.
  • To be Responsible for locking up the buildings at the end shifts when not covered and in overtime hours.
  • Act as a cover for the production manager when on holiday / Absent from the site ensuring all areas are running efficiently and safely.

Education and Experience
  • Relevant vocational qualification fabrication and welding

  • Computer Literate in MS Office

The hours of work are Monday to Thursday 06.00am to 15.00pm and Friday 06.00am to 11.00am (39 hours per week).
