Job summary

JKH Ltd in Mildenhall is seeking a Welder / Fabricator with a City & Guilds Level 2 in MIG welding or equivalent experience to join our production team. You will interpret drawings, cut and weld steel to BSEN1090, and help prepare products for galvanising.

Hours are 40 per week, 7am to 4pm, Monday to Friday. Permanent on-site role with competitive hourly rates (£15.69–£17.49), overtime, holidays, and a production bonus after probation.

Qualifications

  • Qualified MIG Welder and Fabricator with relevant experience
  • City & Guilds Level 2 qualification in MIG welding or equivalent
  • At least three years of hands-on welding experience or willingness to qualify with company support after probation

Responsibilities

  • Follow and interpret technical drawings and cutting lists
  • Cut and fabricate steel to drawings and BSEN1090 standard
  • Set up MIG welders for various welds per materials/design
  • Assist with galvanising preparation of products
  • Assist with fitting handrails and gratings as needed
  • Maintain good stakeholder relationships to support productivity and quality
  • Perform first quality checks and report defects
  • Notify on drawing/cutting list issues delaying production
  • Monitor stock levels within department and flag needs

Are you a talented Welder with a Level 2 City & Guilds in MIG welding?

We are seeking a welder / fabricator to work on a variety of standard and bespoke manufacturing projects. The ideal candidate will hold a City & Guilds Level 2 in Metal Inert Gas (MIG) Welding or an equivalent qualification. Alternatively, you’ll have at least three years of hands‑on welding experience and be willing to work toward a relevant qualification—with full company support—after successfully completing your three‑month probation period.

  • Overtime available at 1.5x hourly rate depending on business need

Key Responsibilities
  • Follow and interpret technical drawings and cutting lists.
  • Cut and fabricate steel accurately to technical drawings and BSEN1090 standard.
  • Set up MIG welders to undertake a range of different welds dependent upon materials and design.
  • Assist with the preparation of products for galvanising.
  • When needed, assist with fitting of handrails and gratings on casted products.
  • Work with and have good relationships with all stakeholders to support team productivity, product development and quality.
  • Undertake a first quality check on products and report any quality defects or concerns to the Team Leader, Supervisor and Quality team.
  • Advise the Team Leader, Supervisor and Office Team of any issues with drawings and cuttings lists which may delay production.
  • Maintain an adequate stock level within department, advising the Supervisor or Team Leader when additional stock may be needed.
Person Specification
  • Qualified MIG Welder and Fabricator with relevant experience
  • City and Guilds Level 2 qualification in Metal Inert Gas Welding or an equivalent qualification (preferable).
  • Experience working in a production/manufacturing environment producing high quality products – working with concrete products is desirable.
  • Experience of working with technical drawings and cutting lists
  • Ability to fabricate steelwork to BSEN1090 standard.
  • Experience operating a range of metalworking equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills, good attention to detail and ability to follow instruction and guidance effectively.
  • Have a proactive continuous improvement mindset
