Job summary

Kemp Recruitment Ltd in Dorking is seeking a Welder / Fabricator to join our workshop team. You will weld and fabricate using MIG and TIG processes on mild and stainless steel, reading engineering drawings and adhering to quality standards.

Responsibilities include assembling components, testing fabrications, maintaining records, and contributing to process improvements while following health and safety procedures.

Job description

Job Title: Welder / Fabricator

Location: Dorking

Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 per annum

Hours: Monday to Friday - 40 hours per week (Shift rotation: Early and Lates)

Overall Purpose of the Position

To assemble and weld parts and major fabrications in mild and stainless-steel materials, ensuring adherence to engineering specifications and company quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Weld and fabricate commercial vehicle bodies and chassis using MIG and TIG processes
• Assemble and weld components and major fabrications from engineering drawings
• Work with mild steel and stainless steel (1.6mm to 6mm thickness)
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and ISO quality standards
• Mark out, fettle, clean and finish parts to meet paint and finishing requirements
• Pressure and leak test fabrications as required
• Maintain high standards of self-inspection and reject substandard work
• Complete required work records and paperwork accurately and timely
• Follow all health & safety procedures in accordance with company policy and risk assessments
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment
• Cross-train to gain full competency across multiple fabrication tasks
• Contribute to process improvements and support team initiatives

• Proficient in MIG & TIG welding
