Welder - MIG

Location: Derby
Contract Type: Temporary to Permanent

About the Company

At Metalis, we are working with a leading manufacturing business based in Derby where an exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled MIG Welder to join the team on a temp-to-perm basis. The successful candidate will work as part of a close-knit fabrication team, producing high-quality welded assemblies and structural components in line with engineering drawings and specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out MIG welding on various components.
  • Fabricate and assemble large structures to precise tolerances.
  • Work from technical drawings and fabrication schematics.
  • Use a variety of hand tools, cutting and grinding equipment, and workshop machinery.
  • Perform quality checks to ensure weld integrity and dimensional accuracy.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment in compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Support colleagues and supervisors in meeting production deadlines and maintaining high-quality output.
Requirements
  • Ideally time-served welder/fabricator or equivalent hands‑on experience in a heavy fabrication environment.
  • Proven experience in MIG welding (experience in TIG or ARC welding is an advantage).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Competent in fabricating large structural work and heavy gauge materials.
  • Good attention to detail, with strong quality awareness.
  • Reliable, punctual, and capable of working independently or as part of a small team.
