Job summary

Keystone Lintels in Cookstown is seeking an experienced Fabricator Welder to join our production team on the late shift (Mon-Thurs: 1:30pm-11:45pm). You will manufacture, assemble and MIG weld stainless steel components to exact drawings and specifications, ensuring quality and structural integrity.

You will interpret drawings, set up jigs, weld to tolerances, inspect results and complete finishing, with emphasis on safety, accuracy and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Requires ability to interpret drawings and welding symbols.
  • Experience with MIG welding on stainless steel.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Welding & Fabrication preferred.

Job description

About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Fabricator Welder to join our Keystone Lintels production team in Cookstown on the Late shift (Mon-Thurs: 1:30pm-11:45pm). You’ll be responsible for manufacturing, assembling and MIG welding stainless steel components to technical drawings and specifications, taking pride in producing work that meets the highest standards of quality, accuracy and structural integrity.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols, specifications and work instructions to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly.
  • Cut, shape and prepare stainless steel materials using workshop equipment including band saws, plasma cutters, grinders and die grinders.
  • Set up and use jigs, fixtures and components to achieve accurate and consistent assemblies before welding.
  • Carry out MIG welding to the required standards, specifications and tolerances.
  • Complete multi-run and positional welds, as well as weld repairs where required.
  • Inspect finished welds visually and dimensionally, identifying and resolving defects to maintain quality and structural integrity.
  • Complete finishing activities including grinding, deburring and polishing to achieve the required finish.
  • Accurately complete quality and production documentation, ensuring records are maintained to the required standard.
  • Follow all workshop safety procedures, risk assessments and safe systems of work, while maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment.

What We’re Looking For
  • Proven experience working in a fabrication and welding environment.
  • Good understanding of technical drawings, welding symbols, tolerances and specifications.
  • Good understanding of welding procedures, WPS, blueprints and relevant industry codes.
  • Relevant welding/fabrication qualification, such as an NVQ Level 3 in Welding & Fabrication, is preferred.
  • Good understanding of basic metallurgy and material properties, particularly stainless steel.
  • Experience of MIG welding, including multi-run and positional welding.
  • Practical experience using workshop equipment such as band saws, plasma cutters, grinders and die grinders.
  • Understanding of quality control requirements and workshop health and safety procedures.
  • Physically capable of safely lifting and handling materials and operating workshop tools and equipment.
