A veterinary practice in Cardiff is looking for an experienced Weekend Veterinary Surgeon to join their new weekend service. The role offers flexibility, autonomy, and the chance to work in a modern practice equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. The ideal candidate will be RCVS-registered and experienced in Emergency and Critical Care. A competitive salary of up to £65,000 (pro-rata) is offered along with generous benefits.
Are you a passionate Veterinary Surgeon with a keen interest in Emergency and Critical Care? Looking for a role that offers flexibility, autonomy, and the chance to be part of an exciting new service? This could be the perfect opportunity for you.
My client is launching an innovative weekend service designed to better support their clients and patients, and they're seeking an experienced vet to play a key role in its success. Based in the vibrant city of Cardiff, the practice combines the best of city living with easy access to the beautiful Brecon Beacons for those who enjoy the outdoors. With strong transport links — including nearby access to the M4, Cardiff and Bristol airports, and a train station right behind the practice — commuting is easy and convenient.
The practice itself is RCVS accredited and has recently moved into modern, spacious premises with state‑of‑the‑art facilities, including an in‑house laboratory, X‑ray, Ultrasound, ECG, and an Orthopaedic Theatre. You’ll be supported by an experienced and welcoming team, including skilled veterinary nurses who will work alongside you during weekend shifts.
There’s flexibility in the working pattern to suit your lifestyle: you could choose to work both Saturday and Sunday (9am–5pm) or combine a weekend day with a weekday shift. The role involves a mix of consultations and procedures, where you’ll deliver outstanding clinical care and provide clear, compassionate communication to clients.
The ideal candidate will be RCVS‑registered, confident in sole‑charge situations, and experienced in working collaboratively with nursing teams. Clinical leadership skills and a strong understanding of how to support nurse consults and Schedule 3 procedures will be key to your success in this role.
If you're looking for a fresh challenge in a modern practice where you can make a real impact, get in touch today to find out more.
