About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Weekend Boarding Matron to join our team at The Prebendal School, Chichester. Contract: Friday evening to Monday morning. Salary: Dependent on experience, with food and accommodation provided. Start date: January 2026. The Boarding Matron reports to the Head of Boarding and plays a vital role in promoting the health, safety, and wellbeing of our pupils. As a night worker, you will remain awake throughout your duty to ensure excellent supervision, complete essential housekeeping tasks, and uphold the highest standards of pastoral care.

Responsibilities
  • Providing emotional and practical support to boarders during the school day
  • Caring for unwell students and liaising with the school nurse or parents
  • Maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming boarding environment
  • Overseeing the cleanliness and tidiness of student rooms and communal areas
  • Reporting maintenance issues promptly and escalating where necessary
  • Managing boarders' laundry twice weekly and ensuring smooth collection and return
  • Assisting with the daily operations of the boarding house
  • Supporting boarding staff with administrative tasks and logistics
  • Upholding safeguarding and health & safety standards at all times
Qualifications
