A leading investment company in Wales is seeking a Mid-Level Web Engineer to expand their web capacity. This role involves collaborating across teams to enhance user interfaces with a focus on accessibility and performance. Candidates should possess strong HTML and JavaScript skills, along with experience in building reusable web components. The position offers a competitive salary, flexible working, and a variety of benefits designed to support personal and professional development.
Wealthify is an ambitious, multi-award-winning online investment company located in Cardiff, Wales. We’re here to inspire anyone to build their future wealth, and we do this by making investing easy, affordable, and accessible.
We want to inspire as many people to invest as possible and we want people who are purpose driven and want to use and develop their skills to deliver an awesome experience to our customers.
Our team is engaging, inquisitive, and inclusive, reflecting many different beliefs and backgrounds. We welcome people who can bring diversity to our team, and work towards a shared goal to deliver an exceptional investment experience.
We are hiring a Mid-Level Web Engineer to expand our web capacity. Reporting to the Tech Lead you will join a cross-functional Squad and work closely with Automation Testers, Designers, Product Owners and Data Engineers. The role is primarily focused on web development with regular opportunities to contribute across the stack; you will be expected to deliver high quality features while working within the Squad’s agile processes.
In this role you will contribute to the expansion and improvement of features on the web platform, grow and refine our web component library, and enhance user interfaces with a strong emphasis on accessibility and performance. Day to day work includes implementing and maintaining existing systems, suggesting and owning improvements where appropriate, collaborating on delivery priorities, participating in code reviews and mentoring more junior engineers. Success will require pragmatic problem solving - knowing when to dig deep and when to escalate - while keeping a user centric and performance first mindset.
Our technical approach is vanilla first on the front end: semantic, accessible HTML, styling using SCSS and components implemented with standards-based Web Components. The back end is Microsoft .NET, primarily using event driven microservices architecture. Performance and accessibility are central responsibilities for this role; familiarity with web performance profiling, accessibility testing and frontend testing practices will be important for making measurable improvements.
We are looking for someone with solid HTML and semantic markup skills, strong JavaScript fundamentals (ES6+) and proven experience building reusable components with Web Components or a comparable component model. A good eye for UI detail, experience with modular CSS/SCSS, Git based collaboration and frontend testing approaches are required. Experience with C# .NET backend work, CI/CD or regulated industries such as FinTech is desirable but not mandatory.
Beyond technical expertise, we value engineers who are humble, curious and resilient: people who take ownership, communicate clearly, collaborate well across disciplines, accept and act on feedback, and mentor others when appropriate. The ideal candidate is pragmatic about time spent troubleshooting, attentive to detail and motivated to deliver a performant, accessible and user-friendly experience.
