10 month undergraduate placement starting September 2024

Flexible working

Hybrid working pattern: Where possible, we will seek to accommodate a blended approach to on-site and remote working, but this will depend on project requirements and the need for access to specific site facilities.

Programme structure

A 10-month placement within your main home department of either WSE, NC or WSAP, where there will be great opportunities to get involved in a variety of activities. A number of other training courses and events are organised as part of the Early Careers Programme, where you will get to know other undergraduates working across different parts of the company.

Departments and key activities
  • Network Communications (NC): delivering secure communication systems into MBDA Weapon Systems across the whole Project Life Cycle. Areas include: Networked Weapons, Platform to Missile Communications, Battlefield Communications, Missile-to-Missile Communications.
  • Weapon System Algorithms and Performance (WSAP): optimise end-to-end mission performance, system-wide architectures and algorithms, including AI/ML techniques; activities include planning, modelling and adapting missile routes, automating missions, developing autonomous decision-making capabilities, and delivering core products such as Target Modelling, Weapon Planning, and Launcher Interfaces.
  • Weapon System Equipment (WSE): manage groups of equipment and Weapon System sub-systems from bidding to production and delivery, with technical and project management support; activities include requirements generation, equipment development management, trials, policy and standard development, and cross-functional collaboration with customers and suppliers.
