Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of Schindler and third-party products and services, particularly lifts and escalators.
  • NVQ4 qualification.
  • Extensive and sufficient electrical and mechanical knowledge.
  • Practical and theoretical knowledge of safety components.
  • Knowledge of NI installation requirements.
  • Have an exact and structured method of working.
  • Able to represent Schindler and demonstrate its value.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect lifts, escalators and moving walks in accordance with SAIS requirements.
  • Re‑inspect when non‑conformities are found.
  • Confirm whether a Declaration of Conformity can be issued.
  • Coach internal and external installation teams during inspection processes.
  • Ensure all tasks are performed safely.
  • Provide technical support to NI / MOD or EI as requested.
  • Assist with retrofit actions as requested.

About the Role

As a Lift & Escalator Inspector at Schindler, you will lead portfolio reliability initiatives and work closely with branch management to ensure our products meet the highest safety standards.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect lifts, escalators and moving walks in accordance with SAIS requirements, performing defined tests, measuring, checking, comparing with acceptance criteria, and recording results.
  • Re‑inspect when non‑conformities are found; critical items require re‑inspection by the SAIS inspector once rectified.
  • Confirm whether a Declaration of Conformity can be issued and that the lift or escalator complies with relevant codes and standards.
  • Coach internal and external installation teams during inspection processes.
  • Ensure all tasks are performed safely and in accordance with agreed methods and procedures.
  • Provide technical support to NI / MOD or EI as requested by the Test/Technical Manager.
  • Assist with retrofit actions as requested by the Test/Technical Manager.
