A leading environmental consultancy in the UK seeks a Consultant for its Freshwater Quality team. The role involves conducting field surveys, managing large datasets, and producing insightful reports for clients. Applicants should have a degree in environmental science, experience in environmental survey work, and strong data handling skills. This role offers a blend of site-based and remote work, supportive company culture, and opportunities for professional development.
Do you enjoy being out in the field collecting environmental data — but also love turning that data into meaningful insights and reports? Are you looking for a role that gives you real variety and the chance to develop both your technical and analytical skills?
We’re looking for a Consultant to join our Freshwater Quality team within APEM’s Water Quality Division. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in environmental surveys and data management who’s ready to take the next step in consultancy. You’ll split your time between site-based work and remote working, giving you the best of both worlds. Fieldwork will include water and sediment quality sampling, equipment deployment, and environmental monitoring across freshwater, transitional and coastal environments. Back in the office, you’ll manage and process large datasets, analyse results, and produce high-quality reports for our clients. Your work will support major water quality and ecological monitoring programmes for clients including water companies, regulators, and developers — projects that make a real difference in understanding and improving the health of our aquatic environments.
At APEM, we balance technical excellence with flexibility and wellbeing. You’ll be part of a collaborative, expert team that works across rivers, lakes, estuaries and coasts — combining field expertise with analytical rigour to deliver meaningful environmental insights. As part of the APEM Group, and now within Applus+, we continue to grow and diversify, creating opportunities for our people to work on some of the most exciting and pioneering environmental projects in the UK.
We are focused on creating a diverse and inclusive team. If you can’t tick every box on our job description, then we are still keen to hear from you and are open to supporting your development. That may be working part time or supporting you to gain experience in a specific area – we are a growing company and are able to adapt roles to reflect individual skills. If you think you have what it takes to join our fast‑growing business, then please apply immediately on our website. All we need is some basic information and your CV; we will review all applications quickly and will respond to all applications.
