Job summary

Arcadis is seeking a Planning Engineer to join our Water Optimisation team. You will develop and implement robust planning governance, integrate programme schedules and drive improved delivery performance across AMP8 water projects.

You will advise on earned value, resource requirements and cost forecasting, collaborating with portfolio leads and stakeholders to mature planning capability and resilience in complex programmes.

Qualifications

• Sufficient years’ experience in project planning and scheduling, ideally within water/complex infrastructure.
• Degree/HNC/HND in Engineering, Project Management, or related subject.
• Strong understanding of UK infrastructure delivery contexts, governance and stakeholder requirements.
• Proficient in planning software (e.g., Safran, Primavera P6, MS Project).

Responsibilities

• Support planning capabilities for major AMP8 programmes and define roles and standards.
• Design, implement and embed new planning processes and tools across tender, project and portfolio levels.
• Work on integrated baselines, WBS and schedule hierarchies, ensuring alignment with scope and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee schedule health checks, earned value analysis and variance management; drive recovery and re-forecast actions.
• Produce and present timely reports on schedule performance and cost forecasts to senior leadership.
• Maintain portfolio-level resource forecasts to support resourcing strategy and recruitment priorities.
• Embed governance, data integrity and configuration control in planning systems.
• Facilitate planning and risk workshops to identify programme risks and mitigation measures.
