Waste Management Operative (Loader) – 11 vacant positions. Grade 3, £25,185 up to £26,403 per annum pro rata. 37 hours per week, full time, permanent contract. Potential opportunity to complete HGV Driver Training.

Overview

We are recruiting Waste Management Operatives ahead of the implementation of a new Food Waste service commencing February next year.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect food waste in new Food Waste Collection vehicles.
  • Collect other waste streams (Refuse, Dry Recycling, Garden waste) as required.
  • Initial distribution of food waste containers to residents prior to collections.
  • Participate in HGV Driver training if eligible.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Physically fit, capable of walking long distances each day, moving wheeled bins, containers or sacks.
  • High levels of customer service – customer focused and courteous when interacting with members of the public.
  • Committed individuals who want to make a difference to the council’s high‑profile and priority services.
  • Category B licence advantageous if applying for HGV Driver training.
HGV Driver Training Opportunity

If you currently have a category B licence, you are eligible to apply for category C training. Training is fully funded and the council actively supports staff to complete this training. Once qualified, you may receive further training from experienced drivers.
