Waste Management Driver/Loader

• Salary:£14.82 per hour PAYE
• Location:Rotherham
• Job Type:Full-time, Temp, up to 39.5 hours per week over 5 days

Join our Waste Collection Team and contribute to maintaining cleanliness across the Borough. As a Waste Management LGV Driver, you will be a key member of our team, responsible for the safe collection of waste and recyclables from household and commercial properties. This role includes occasional Saturday work and offers the potential for additional hours.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Safely operate the waste collection vehicle and supervise the waste management operatives on board.
• Carry out waste collections efficiently across the Borough, including all waste and recyclables from household and commercial properties.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements in the workplace.
• Input daily updates on the Bartec ‘in cab’ system, report any issues such as contamination, and ensure that customers receive the appropriate information and materials like bin tags and leaflets.
• Walk distances of 8 to 10 miles per day, as this is a physically demanding role that also involves pushing and pulling bins of various sizes over different distances and gradients in all weather conditions.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience working within a waste collection environment, preferably kerbside waste/recycling collections.
• Must hold a category C2driving licence.
• Good understanding of health and safety requirements in the workplace.
• Excellent customer care skills to represent the Council in the delivery of front-line services.
• Ability to operate as part of a team and demonstrate flexibility in achieving targets.
