Overview

We are looking for a Waste Manager to join our team and help drive forward positive action across our service.

The Waste Manager role across Mid and South Essex hospitals is integral to sustainability, cost savings, and regulatory compliance, focusing on efficient waste segregation, recycling, and minimising landfill contributions.

This management is coordinated primarily within the Estates and Facilities teams, overseeing waste portering, engaging staff in recycling initiatives, and driving sustainable practices supported by NHS Net Zero commitment.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with the current and future strategic planning/delivery of high quality MSE Waste and Grounds service with an efficient and cost effective approach that meets the need of all clients/stakeholders; liaise with multi-disciplinary colleagues to ensure the continuity and development of the service.
  • Monitor all waste and grounds services against national standards and performance.
  • Ensure budget management against resource allocation, budget forecast, and delivery of quality service within budget.
  • Plan and organise the MSE waste and grounds service provision, including development of plans and strategies for responding to changes in service requirements, national standards and objectives.
