Job Introduction

Royal Greenwich is on the up! Having recently achieved a 3.8% increase in our recycling rate, we're looking for someone who can help us reach the next level of success in our Waste Services.

This is an exciting time to join us, as the Royal Borough of Greenwich continues to invest in delivering high quality waste and recycling services that make a real difference to our residents and wider community.

With an excellent knowledge and experience in the waste industry, you'll have a proven track record of delivering successful projects, managing contracts and achieving strong outcomes.

As an experienced and effective leader, you will:

  • Take a leading role in the procurement of major disposal contracts, ensuring that they provide the desired outcomes at a time of major change in the industry
  • Lead a small team managing the council's waste disposal contracts and oversee the running of our waste transfer station.
  • Ensure contractors are performing well against KPIs and providing best value for money.
  • Drive forward change and innovation to improve recycling rates
  • Use the full suite of Microsoft Office products to monitor and report on performance.

With a flexible and proactive approach, you'll be comfortable working independently while playing a key role in helping the council deliver on its mission and meet its legislative responsibilities.
