Waste and Recycling Team Leader

Hours: 37 hours per week
Pay: £170 per day (£18.37 per hour)
Location: Little Canfield, Dunmow

About the role

We are recruiting on behalf of our client Uttlesford District Council for a Team Leader to support the delivery of waste and recycling services across the district. The role involves leading daily operations and working closely with crews to ensure services run safely and efficiently. Experience from waste operations, refuse collection, environmental services or any similar frontline service will be helpful. This is an initial 3 month contract with the view to extending beyond.

What you will do
  • Lead and coordinate daily waste and recycling operations
  • Support crews and supervisors to deliver a safe efficient service
  • Plan workloads and resources to meet service standards
  • Monitor compliance with legislation and operational procedures
  • Handle queries from residents and colleagues in a calm practical way
  • Promote a strong safety culture and take action when needed
  • Work closely with depot teams, fleet staff and managers to resolve issues
What we are looking for

You bring solid knowledge of waste and recycling services and understand how frontline environmental services should operate. You are practical, attentive and confident communicating with both crews and managers. Experience from roles such as operations supervisor, refuse team leader, street scene supervisor or logistics coordinator would be valuable.
