Job description

Responsibilities

Our latest opportunity is for a Waste Analyst to join our award-winning Sustainability and Environment Division, specifically within our specialist waste composition team based in London, UK.

Waste composition focuses on examining the different materials found within waste streams, such as plastics, food waste, metals, and paper, to help organisations and governments improve recycling outcomes, plan infrastructure more effectively, and shape better environmental policies.

Working closely with experienced consultants and engineers, this role offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated graduate to gain practical experience in project delivery, research, and data analysis within the waste and environmental sector, while contributing to projects that create meaningful environmental impact.

We expect success in this role to include:
  • Supporting the planning and delivery of waste composition and resource management assignments.
  • Assisting with project proposals, sampling approaches, and data collection planning.
  • Helping coordinate fieldwork activities, including waste sampling, sorting exercises, and data recording.
  • Carrying out data entry and analysis to identify material composition, recycling opportunities, and policy-related insights.
  • Supporting the development of analytical methods and reporting approaches for waste datasets.
  • Researching market developments, new technologies, and UK waste legislation and policy trends.
  • Assisting with the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and other project materials.
  • Supporting the wider team in delivering strategic projects related to waste management and resource efficiency.
  • Contributing fresh and innovative ideas for analysing and presenting waste-related data.
  • Supporting project work across multiple locations, including travel within the UK and occasionally overseas when required.
Qualifications

To succeed in this role, we expect that your background includes 1-2 years of relevant professional experience along with a Bachelor’s degree (BSc Honours or equivalent) in Resource Management, Environmental Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.

Internships or work placements in resource management, waste management, or environmental consulting would be considered an advantage.

You should also demonstrate:
  • Strong analytical skills and a genuine interest in waste data and environmental systems.
  • Good command of Microsoft Office, especially Excel for analysis and modelling.
  • Knowledge of Python for data analysis, including data cleaning and visualisation.
  • Awareness of AI tools and how they can be applied to data analysis.
  • Experience or familiarity with research, data collection, and technical reporting.
  • Strong organisational and coordination abilities, especially in supporting field-based activities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a project team.
  • Adaptability and practical problem-solving skills, particularly in fieldwork settings.
  • Willingness to travel across the UK, Europe, and occasionally internationally depending on project needs.
  • Fluency in English.
