Job summary

A leading logistics provider in Nantwich is seeking a Shift Manager to oversee daily warehouse operations. The role requires managing a team to meet performance targets, maintaining stock integrity, and ensuring high customer satisfaction. Qualifications

As a Shift Manager you will manage, lead and coordinate the warehouse day shift. Coordinating daily warehousing activities and employees, ensuring targets are achieved and customer requirements are met. Implement production, productivity, quality and customer service standards and achieve the appropriate level of volume within time limits. Ensure that daily operations meet and exceed daily performance expectations.

Day to Day
  • Manage and guide the Shift Leaders to achieve the warehouse targets and KPIs set in a safe and efficient manner, contributing to an atmosphere where employees are encouraged to volunteer ideas and engaged as a team
  • Achieve high levels of customer satisfaction through excellence in receiving, dispatching, and assuring quality goods – promoting SAP system processes and handling colleague non‑compliance appropriately
  • Determine the appropriate staffing levels based on planned workload and assign resources appropriately– supporting investigations, disciplinaries and absence & attendance meets as required
  • To utilise employee productivity and performance data to review performance, accordingly, identifying opportunities for reward and recognition for high performers to the Warehouse Manager
  • Maintain stock integrity through goods in checking, goods out checking and a scheduled perpetual inventory program
  • Maintain all record keeping and document necessary information for a clear handover to the management on the following shift
  • Pro‑actively identify improvement opportunities liaising with H&S, Quality & ESG, Continuous Improvement and Warehouse Management
  • Deal with any discrepancies found, ensure corrective action is taken and if necessary, report immediately to the Warehouse Manager
  • To be aware of and adhere to the Company’s Health & Safety Policy, taking responsibility for the Health, Safety, environmental and welfare of yourself and others in your departments
What will you bring?
  • Experience in leading a team in a warehousing/logistics environment at a supervisory or shift manager level
  • Able to motivate and engage a team, develop and maintain a culture of employee involvement and provide coaching where required
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, time management and organisational skills allowing you to direct and coordinate operations
  • The ability to engage cross functionally (e.g. with GHT/Transport/Customer Services) to ensure all relevant parties are involved and kept updated and handovers are correctly done
  • Knowledge and experience of health and safety principles, preferably IOSH standard
  • Excellent computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office and WMS (SAP, Microlise, Contrado, Capture IT would be advantageous)
