New entrants welcome.
You will be working in our warehouse, processing a wide variety of orders from start to finish. We sell primarily to trade customers, and orders vary from single-item packages sent out by courier, solar kits that are sent on a single pallet, right up to commercial PV systems with lorry loads of solar panels and associated mounting systems.
Working under the warehouse manager, you'll be responsible for processing the day's orders: picking, checking and packing them, booking them on for dispatch and ensuring they are labelled and loaded correctly.
You will also help to keep an eye on stock levels, unload, check and put away inbound goods, and help keep the warehouse tidy and running smoothly, following Health and Safety guidelines at all times.
This is a full‑time role. Depending on your team, the work will involve:
The role will involve rotating shift patterns, with early shifts covering 6am‑2pm and late shifts from 2pm‑10pm with a 40 minute break. A shift allowance of an extra £3 per hour worked outside of the hours of 8:00‑18:00 will be paid. This adds £6 to an early shift, and £12 to a late shift.
We specialise in solar PV systems. The bulk of our turnover is in distributing complete solar PV kits, including solar panels, inverters, mounting systems and electrical components, to a network of installation customers. We also sell smaller PV systems for off‑grid applications direct to retail customers, and we have developed our own software product for designing PV systems.
We’ve grown significantly from humble beginnings – our first storeroom was the front room of a narrowboat, and we’ve outgrown five warehouses since, and opened a subsidiary in Ireland.
We're passionate about the environment, and we've gained a reputation for a helpful and open approach to business. The office is a friendly, dynamic and informal place to work.
You enjoy a challenge, and thrive in a fast‑paced environment. You have impeccable attention to detail, and enjoy a role that's often physically demanding. You enjoy a dynamic work atmosphere, and have a friendly and easy‑going manner with co‑workers and customers. You're happy to get involved with whatever needs doing, and eager to be part of helping a small company grow.
We’re particularly interested in applicants with prior experience of warehouse work, or with previous experience with solar PV. But these are not essential – initiative, enthusiasm and the right attitude are more important.
Forklift or H&S training is also beneficial, but not required.
