Job summary

Maldon Salt Ltd is seeking a Warehouse Operative on a 12-month Fixed Term contract to support receiving, picking, packing and dispatch activities in a busy warehouse environment.

You will operate Counterbalance FLT, manage stock, and ensure daily checks and safe handling of goods, while adhering to HACCP/ISO/COSHH standards. A full UK driving licence and external FLT/VNA licences are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 GCSEs A-C (5-9) or demonstrable ability to interpret technical information is essential
• HACCP/ISO/COSHH knowledge is desirable

Responsibilities

• Operate Counterbalance FLT on a regular basis
• Carry out daily FLT checks and report failures
• Carry out picking of products in a timely and accurate manner
• Support packing room to ensure materials are available
• Ensure stock rotation complies with site standards
• Report damages to stock controller/line manager and locate in quarantine as advised
• Complete pre-loading/unloading vehicle inspections and ensure drivers follow site rules
• Ensure vehicle is loaded with no damages
• Transfer Tidmans rock salt to standard pallets
• Load and unload vehicle containers
• Maintain communication with hauliers and line management
• Follow site escalation procedures for issues, non-compliance and failures
• Ensure all visitors follow HSE procedures
• Deliver/dispatch products with correct documentation
• Complete weekly cleaning schedule and update via mango system
• Take care of personal health and safety and that of others under directives
• Maintain and drive standards relating to Health & Safety, quality, and hygiene

Warehouse Operative, 12 month FTC - Shift Pattern

As a Warehouse Operative, you will play a vital role in ensuring that goods are stored, picked, packed, and dispatched accurately and efficiently. You will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, including receiving and unloading deliveries, organising stock, and preparing orders for dispatch. Working as part of a dedicated team, you'll contribute to maintaining a clean, safe, and organised warehouse environment. Please note that this is a 12 month Fixed Term contract.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive Counterbalance FLT on a regular basis
• Ensure FLT checks are carried out daily and failures reported via mango system
• Carry out picking of products in a timely and accurate manner
• Support packing room ensuring packaging material is always available to support line efficiency
• Ensure Stock rotation is done in compliance with agreed site standards
• Report all damages to stock controller/line manager and locate in quarantine once advised
• Complete pre-loading/unloading vehicle inspections and ensure drivers follow the site rules
• Ensure vehicle is loaded with out damages
• Transferring of Tidmans rock salt to standard pallets
• Loading and unloading of vehicle containers
• Maintain effective communication such as hauliers, line management
• Follow site escalation procedures in the event of issues, non-compliance and failures
• Ensure all personnel visiting area follow site HSE procedures
• Ensure product is delivered/despatched with correct documentation
• Ensure weekly cleaning schedule is completed and updated via mango system
• Take reasonable and practical care of personal health and safety and of others who may be required to implement any legal or company directives regarding health and safety at work
• Maintain and drive all standards relating to Health & Safety, quality, and hygiene

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required

• Practical experience of working within a high speed/FMCG manufacturing operation is essential
• Knowledge of manufacturing and HSE process and legislation is essential
• Experience of driving Counterbalance FLT, and a valid licence, is essential
• Valid driving licence to drive on public highways is essential
• Understanding of working with scanners is an advantage

Hours

• Monday to Friday, 5 week rotating shift pattern:
• Week 1 = 05:45 - 14:00, with one 15-minute paid break and one 30-minute unpaid break
• Week 2 = 07:30 - 15:45, with one 15-minute paid break and one 30-minute unpaid break
• Week 3 = 08:00 - 16:15, with one 15-minute paid break and one 30-minute unpaid break
• Week 4 = 09:30 - 17:45, with one 15-minute paid break and one 30-minute unpaid break
• Week 5 = 12:00 - 20:15, with one 15-minute paid break and one 30-minute unpaid break
• £31,890 per annum, payable monthly
• 25 days (pro-rata) annual leave + bank holidays rising to 28 days with length of service (plus bank holidays)
• 1 week company sick pay after successful probationary period, increasing to 3-weeks Company Sick Pay (after 12 months service)
