Job summary

Barrett Steel are recruiting a Warehouse Operative for the Willenhall site. You will work to pick computer-generated orders, record stock movements and help prepare customer orders for dispatch.

The role operates on rotating shifts, 6:00–14:00 and 14:00–22:00, with training provided for mobility equipment and safety procedures. Barrett Steel offers a competitive salary, bonus potential, holidays, pension and life assurance.

Qualifications

• Experience as a warehouse operative is preferred.

• Ability to operate FLT and overhead crane after training.

Responsibilities

• Pick orders accurately and handle heavy items.
• Record stock movements and identify products using measuring equipment.
• Work well in a team and also independently.
• Transfer stock, operate saws, overhead cranes, forklifts after training.
• Support production and dispatch of customer orders.
• Maintain high health and safety standards.
• Be adaptable to meet operational needs.
• Perform ad hoc duties as required.

All About the Role

Based at our Barrett Engineering Steel Willenhall Site, we are looking for a passionate and committed Warehouse Operative to be part of our skilled and dedicated work force. The working hours are on a rotating shift pattern Monday to Friday 6:00am-2:00pm, then Monday to Friday 2:00 pm to 10:00pm.

Specific tasks include:

• Pick computer generated orders with repetitive handling/lifting of heavy and large items
• Accurately record stock movement and usage, along with product identification and use of measuring equipment.
• Work efficiently and effectively as part of a team and on your own.
• Transferring stock, operate saws, overhead cranes, fork lifts, side loaders and side trackers after full training
• Assisting in the overall production and dispatch of customers’ orders.
• Maintain high levels of Health and Safety at all times
• Be adaptable and flexible in approach to work to meet operational requirements
• Any ad hoc duties as required

• The successful candidate will ideally already have experience as a warehouse operative
• You should be used to working safely, adhering to all health and safety procedures

• Ideally you will be able to use mobile equipment (FLT, overhead crane)
• The ability to read written instructions & record accurately work carried out
• A full UK driving license.
