Job description

Our client, a leading company in the Redhill area, is seeking a Warehouse Operative to join their team. As a Warehouse Operative, you will be responsible for the physical and administrative control of materials within the company's stores locations. This includes packing goods for airfreight and domestic despatch, ensuring they arrive in optimal condition. You will also provide support to the Warehouse Supervisor in administrative duties, act as a first point of contact for escalations, and supervise the warehouse staff in the absence of the Supervisor.

Key Tasks
  • Maintain an efficient Goods Inwards / Outwards procedure, including proper documentation and filing.
  • Pack and unpack goods for despatch, ensuring accuracy at all times.
  • Maintain accuracy of serial number tracked items and update relevant databases.
  • Collaborate with the returns administrator to handle nonconforming and faulty goods effectively.
  • Operate forklift trucks and scissor lifts for loading, unloading, and transferring equipment.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and ensure a clean and safe working environment.
  • Handle Hazardous Goods (Lithium batteries) in compliance with procedures.
  • Participate in training to maintain product awareness and administrative skills.
  • Provide facilities support, including assistance with work area changes, movement of equipment or materials, and minor maintenance tasks.
  • Demonstrate adherence to Health and Safety policies.
  • Assist in covering company post duties when required.
  • Conduct cyclical stock checks to maintain accurate stock levels.
  • Support the Warehouse Supervisor in organising and carrying out yearly stock checks.
  • Assist with inventory and process queries from remote sites.
  • Oversee consumables ordering process for the stores.
  • Drive compliance with Health and Safety processes within the stores environment.
Qualifications
  • Good level of secondary education, with proficiency in literacy and numeracy.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organisation and with external agents.
  • Must be able to provide a 5‑year work history check and obtain Security Clearance.
  • Certification to operate forklift trucks is required.
  • Physically capable of handling loads that need to be moved or carried.
  • Minimum of 5 years of warehouse experience.
  • Computer literate and accurate, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new computerised tasks.
