Job summary

Gist Limited, part of the M&S Group, is seeking an experienced Warehouse Operative in Hemel to join a fast-paced team. You will help ensure the right products are picked, packed and dispatched on schedule in a busy warehouse environment.

Role requires previous warehouse experience, reliability, and a strong safety record. You will work 40 hours per week across any 5 days, with day or back shifts and on-site PPE provided.

At Gist, part of the M&S Group, we’re looking for experienced Warehouse Operatives to join our team in Hemel, helping to keep M&S stores supplied with the products our customers know and love.

This is a hands-on, fast-paced warehouse environment, so previous warehouse experience is essential. We’re looking for people who understand the demands of warehouse work and are ready to get stuck in from day one.

The role at a glance

Pay: £13.79 per hour, increasing to £14.97 after 6 months

Location: Hemel

Hours: 40 hours per week

Shift: Any 5 days from 7

Day shift: 09:15-17:45

Back shift: 14:00-22:30

Additional premiums: Weekend and unsociable hours premiums

Environment: Chilled and ambient

PPE: Full PPE provided

What you'll be doing

Our warehouses are at the heart of the M&S Food supply chain. As a Warehouse Operative, you'll help make sure the right products get to the right place at the right time.

Depending on the operation, your day could include:

• Picking and preparing stock for dispatch
• Loading and unloading vehicles
• Scanning and checking products
• Moving goods safely through the warehouse
• Maintaining accuracy and productivity standards
• Following health and safety procedures
• Working closely with your team to keep the operation moving

What we're looking for

Previous warehouse experience is essential. We’re looking for candidates who understand what it takes to work in a busy warehouse environment and can demonstrate relevant experience.

You’ll need to be:

• Experienced in a warehouse or logistics environment
• Reliable and committed to your role
• Comfortable working in a busy, fast-paced environment
• Safety focused
• Able to work accurately and efficiently
• Comfortable with the physical nature of warehouse work
• A good team player
• Available to work the advertised shift pattern
• Experience of picking, loading/unloading, scanning or working within a chilled or food distribution environment would be beneficial.
