Job summary

Cuisine Centre, part of Compass Group UK & Ireland, is seeking a Warehouse Operative (Packing & Picking) to support dispatch operations in our Derby site. You will pick materials and customer orders, pack to specifications, and ensure accuracy to meet daily targets in a fast-paced environment.

The role emphasizes food safety, traceability, FIFO inventory, and hygiene. You will record batch codes, perform quality checks, and work with a proactive, team-minded approach.

Responsibilities

• Pick materials, ingredients, and customer orders accurately in line with dispatch plans and pick lists.
• Pack finished products according to customer specifications and packing instructions.
• Support the achievement of daily picking, packing, and dispatch targets.
• Maintain full product traceability by recording batch codes and use-by dates.
• Carry out in-process and finished goods quality checks.
• Ensure effective stock rotation using FIFO principles.
• Maintain accurate inventory and material usage records.
• Support waste reduction by following correct handling, packing, and disposal procedures.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene by completing cleaning schedules and using the correct chemicals.
• Follow all Health & Safety, Food Safety, COSHH, and PPE requirements.
• Report any quality, stock, or operational issues promptly to the Warehouse Manager or QA Team.
• Contribute your ideas to make continuous improvement of processes.

Warehouse Operative (Packing & Picking)

Hourly Pay Rate: £13.45

About the Role

You will play a key role in supporting dispatch operations by ensuring products, ingredients, and customer orders are accurately picked, packed, checked, and prepared for dispatch. Working in a fast-paced warehouse environment, you will help maintain quality, food safety, and full product traceability while achieving daily operational targets.

Working Hours

40 hours per week

Monday - Friday: 07:00 - 15:30

Flexibility and occasional overtime required to meet operational demands.

Key Responsibilities

Pick materials, ingredients, and customer orders accurately in line with dispatch plans and pick lists.

Pack finished products according to customer specifications and packing instructions.

Support the achievement of daily picking, packing, and dispatch targets.

Maintain full product traceability by recording batch codes and use-by dates.
