Job description

Menzies Distribution Solutions are currently recruiting for an experienced Warehouse Manager to manage & support an effective operational process, which ensures accurate integrity of customer/supplier’s stock and data input at our Wakefield Depot. You will be responsible for ensuring that all operational processes and compliances are always adhered to including legislative and regulatory requirements.

  • Salary: £50k Per Annum
  • Location: Normanton, WF6 2UA
  • Shift: Monday-Friday
  • Holiday Allowance: 33 Days inclusive of 8 Bank holidays

Key Duties and Accountabilities (will include but not be limited to):
  • Liaising with customers, suppliers and transport teams; planning, coordinating and monitoring the receipt, order assembly and dispatch of goods
  • Using space and mechanical handling equipment efficiently and making sure quality, budgetary targets are met
  • Coordinating the use of automated and computerised systems where necessary
  • Maintain a safe working environment which complies with all aspects of the company’s H&S policy
  • Ensure all environmental control measures are in place and effective
  • Manage and control operational costs in an effective manner
  • Manage, support and develop the operational team through continuous improvement and proactive communication
  • Establish & maintain a harmonised people focused team-working environment
  • Uphold highest standards of H&S, ensure all inductions and regular training is completed and logged
  • Ensure the application of the business ‘key standards’ are maintained
  • Establish, monitor and maintain agreed performance levels for all warehouse activity
  • Liaise, support and develop effective working relationships with internal and external customers
  • Maintain, review and develop working practices in line with operational procedures
  • Day-to-day planning and management of the operation and any special projects or initiatives through continuous improvement
  • Recruit colleagues and ensure optimal levels of resource aligned with business needs
  • Effectively communicate internally through the production of reports, KPI information
  • Ensuring efficient and effective delivery and implementation of all aspects of Clients operational requirements
  • Attending and facilitating regular operational meetings with staff to communicate consistent objectives and performance
  • Working to KPI’s and objectives agreed with clients, taking into account any special projects or initiatives
Key Experience And Qualifications
  • Good spoken and written communication skills
  • A professional manner
  • Good computer literacy (Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel) WMS
  • Manager with demonstratable experience gained within a logistics environment
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to coach, motivate, and inspire teams to align with company vision and values
  • Good financial acumen, ability to understand and work with budgets
  • Proficient in using dashboards and data to drive performance measures and insights
  • Working knowledge of Continuous Improvement methodologies
  • Excellent people management skills, with a focus on driving accountability and delivering results through teams
  • Full clean Driving License
  • Flexibility to travel on occasion
