The Role

We are seeking driven and experienced Warehouse & Coldstore Managers to take ownership of daily operations in our fast-paced, customer-focused environment. Reporting directly to the Head of Warehousing, this is a hands-on leadership role with the autonomy to shape how the warehouse and coldstore operate.

You will lead a large team, ensuring high standards of performance, safety and compliance, while driving efficiencies across the site. About The Role
Key Responsibilities
  1. 1. People Leadership
    • Lead, motivate and support the warehouse team to achieve shift and site targets.
    • Create a positive work environment with strong employee engagement.
    • Delegate tasks effectively and resolve issues swiftly.
    • Conduct regular performance reviews, manage attendance, and handle disciplinary issues.
    • Ensure all employees receive appropriate training and development.
  2. 2. Operations Management
    • Take full responsibility for day-to-day warehouse and coldstore operations.
    • Proactively manage labour to meet customer demand and capacity needs.
    • Manage stock, inventory, and order processes to company standards.
    • Deliver excellent customer service through efficient and accurate warehouse operations.
    • Liaise with contractors to manage plant, site facilities, and repairs.
  3. 3. Compliance, Safety & Standards
    • Ensure operations comply with company policies, legal requirements, and industry standards.
    • Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant working environment.
    • Lead on health & safety initiatives, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
    • Ensure readiness for audits and compliance with BRC and other standards.
  4. 4. Performance & Continuous Improvement
    • Monitor and manage performance linked to KPIs, ensuring activity is recorded and measured.
    • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
    • Support the adoption of technology and innovative solutions to optimise operations.
    • Champion sustainability initiatives within the warehouse and coldstore.
Requirements
  • Previous experience within a food or temperature-controlled warehouse.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience managing a team of 10+ employees.
  • Proven experience in using a Warehouse Management System (WMS).
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in achieving targets in a fast-paced environment.
  • Customer-focused approach with strong communication skills.
  • Flexible and hands-on approach to warehouse operations.
  • Proficient IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety and BRC requirements.
  • LEAN / Six Sigma experience (desirable).
Terms & Benefits
  • Monday – Friday, Full Time Role. Day Shift Hours, with a flexible approach.
  • Salary: £42,000 - £47,000 depending on experience.
