Job summary

The British Heart Foundation in Finchley is seeking a part-time Warehouse Assistant to support our busy furniture stores. You will sort, check and prepare donated items for sale, handle the delivery of furniture, and help keep the shop floor stocked while working across 7 days on a rota basis.

This role is 21 hours per week on a 3-month fixed-term contract with weekend and bank holiday availability. You’ll join a fast-paced team dedicated to funding life-saving heart research and reducing waste

Qualifications

• Previous retail experience isn’t essential.
• You’ll be confident working within a team and able to guide the activity of volunteers.
• You’ll work well under pressure and on your own initiative in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
• Attention to detail in everything you do.
• Comfortable with a high level of hands on manual work that involves moving large items/volumes of stock

Responsibilities

The role is part time for 21hours a week in one of our busy furniture stores. Our stores are fast-paced and trade 7 days a week. This role requires flexibility to work weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis.

This is a 3 month fixed term contract. Candidate must be fully flexible to work across 7 days per week including Weekends and Bank Holidays.

What does this role involve?

As a Warehouse Assistant, you’ll be at the heart of our retail operation by sorting, checking and making the most out of the variety of donations we receive behind the scenes. This is not just a standing behind the till or filling shelves type of job. Join a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same and everyone works as a team to fund life‑saving research.

Your day‑to‑day responsibilities will include:

• Organising donated items and preparing them for sale/ Handling and moving the delivery of furniture and appliances that arrive in our stores
• Ensuring the shop floor is always well stocked
• Working in line with safety regulations and promoting health, safety and wellbeing in everything you do
• Identifying unsaleable donations for recycling
• Keeping the stockroom organised and tidy

Please note, this role can be physical demanding and moving a high volume of donation bags/involves lifting large pieces of furniture.

You will be given lots of autonomy in your role and will strive to continually build your knowledge of BHF.
