Job summary

My Way Productions are seeking a Wardrobe Assistant to support SINATRA THE MUSICAL at the Aldwych Theatre in London. The role is Monday to Saturday with 8 shows per week, including laundry and maintenance tasks.

The ideal candidate has wardrobe experience in a large-scale production, excellent sewing skills, and strong materials knowledge. You will work closely with the Wardrobe team across rehearsals and performances.

Qualifications

• Experience in the wardrobe department of a large-scale commercial production.
• Excellent hand sewing and machine sewing skills.
• Knowledge of materials including silk, spandex, fabric painting, beading, and fastenings like zippers.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head of Wardrobe and liaise between Company Manager and Technical departments to ensure smooth rehearsals and performances.
• Assist with day-to-day changes impacting the production.
• Assist with costume fittings when required.
• Prepare and maintain all costumes and equipment, including checks before each performance.

Salary: As per SOLT/BECTU.

Job Requirements

• – Experience in the Wardrobe department of a large-scale commercial production.

• – Material knowledge. Understanding of various costume materials and components, including silk, spandex, fabric painting, beading, and fastenings such as zippers.

Job Responsibilities

– Assist the Head and Deputy Head of Wardrobe and liaise between the Company Manager and Technical departments to ensure the smooth running of all rehearsals and performances.
– Assist the Head and Deputy Head of Wardrobe on any day-to-day changes that might impact the running of the Production.
– Assist with costume fittings when required to do so.
– Preparation and maintenance of all costumes and equipment required, including checks prior to each performance– Learn and perform dressing cues; from simple to extensive plots– Performing costume maintenance and laundry duties including ironing– Attending all rehearsals, show calls, maintenance calls, get-ins, fit-ups and get-outs as required, including emergency calls in the event of equipment failure or other incident, particularly if there is a risk of the cancellation of a performance.– Having an awareness of understudy and swing performances ahead of each show and making necessary adjustments, if any.
