Job summary

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 3 Healthcare Assistant on Ward 5A at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital to support registered nurses in delivering advanced clinical care, including taking vital signs, dressing changes and fluid balance.

You will contribute to personal care, mobility, nutrition, and accurate nursing records under supervision, lead by example and support junior Band 2 staff while ensuring a safe, clean ward environment.

Qualifications

• Certified NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or willingness to undertake).
• Experience in NHS or acute hospital setting; Care Certificate or NVQ Level 3.
• Ability to communicate clearly with a multidisciplinary team and families.

Responsibilities

• Clinical Observations: Taking and recording vital signs and escalating changes to a registered nurse.
• Clinical Procedures: Assisting with non-complex wound care, cannulae/catheters removal, and blood glucose monitoring.
• Patient Care: Assisting with personal hygiene, toileting, and nutritional needs (feeding and hydration monitoring).
• Documentation: Recording fluid intake/output charts and updating nursing records under supervision.
• Ward Support: Leading by example, supervising Band 2 staff, and helping manage daily ward logistics.
