Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Ward Clerk on Day Unit in York Hospital. The day unit provides pre and post-surgical care to a wide variety of surgical specialties that attend for surgery and are discharged the same day.

Interested applicants must have excellent communication skills, be a good team player and enjoy meeting and working with the public. Basic computer skills are also a requirement for the job and NHS experience would be an advantage; however, full training will be given to the successful applicant on use of the hospital computer systems.

Responsibilities
  • Receive general enquiries, via the telephone, email or face to face, from patients, visitors, staff and others (internal and external).
  • Undertake basic clerical tasks, including:
  • production and issuing of already prepared standard and routine letters
  • distribution of incoming/outgoing post
  • filing
  • retrieval of files
  • photocopying
  • completion of standard forms/returns including the ordering of stock and supplies
  • Type/word process routine letters and other appropriate documents.
  • Input data to relevant computerised databases.
  • Ensure that both Trust and local Policies and Procedures are followed as necessary to own work.
