Role Overview

The Ward Clerk is a vital member of Ward A5, providing essential clerical and administrative support. We are seeking a highly organised, reliable individual with excellent time‑management skills and strong communication abilities. The role requires a commitment to delivering a high standard of service to both patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain clear communication with patients’ families, provide updates, and act as a key point of liaison. Coordinate patient admissions to the ward, update the HIVE system, and handle phone calls professionally and efficiently.
  • Operate within established policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines to ensure smooth operations within the department. Contribute to improving best practices and ensuring that high‑quality standards are consistently maintained.
  • Work 22.5 hours per week (ideally 3 days a week but would consider 2 days).
Candidate Profile

We are looking for a candidate with excellent telephone and communication skills. The position is a busy customer/administration service‑based role where no two days can be the same. You will need to work flexibly and apply a methodical approach to a varying workload. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team.

You will work alongside the Consultants, Doctors and Nurses to ensure our patients receive the best care possible. We are looking for candidates who will bring a positive approach to the working environment.

Successful candidates must have excellent IT skills and experience working in a customer service or healthcare environment, as you will be expected to use IT and communication equipment associated with call handling and data input. Demonstrate high levels of personal commitment to facilitating the delivery of a patient‑focused service.
