Job Responsibilities
  • To assist with the co‑ordination and management of an efficient and effective Surgical SDEC Service in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
  • To support the Administration Team Leader in the absence of the Leader and ensure continuity of service, reporting escalations to the Administration Manager.
  • To provide operational and supervisory support as a key member of the team within the Surgical SDEC.
  • To manage own workload and that of others under supervision.
  • To maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • To provide day‑to‑day operational support to the defined teams within Surgical SDEC, covering them on short notice when required.
  • To assist the Administration Team Leader in completing the staff roster, ensuring compliance and meeting deadlines before final approval of admin shifts.
  • To coordinate the rotation of clerical staff using allocation spreadsheets, ensuring an efficient skill mix and re‑organising work to meet changing priorities.
  • To communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels within the Trust and external agencies, using tact and diplomacy.
  • To update and maintain information stored on departmental computer systems.
  • To conduct daily quality checks and scanning of patient notes, reporting any issues to the Administration Team Leader.
  • To ensure all admin staff are trained on systems required for their roles and identify issues for the Administration Team Leader.
  • To help ensure systems, policies and procedures are in place to monitor and evaluate quality standards.
  • To provide relevant information for staff meetings and maintain effective communication with all staff.
  • To deliver good customer care at all times.
  • To maintain a safe and healthy environment for patients, visitors and staff, and attend required health and safety training.
  • To carry out all duties to the highest standard.
  • To comply with directorate and trust policies, procedures and practices, including Major Incident and Decontamination procedures.
