An exciting opportunity has arisen for a ward clerk to join the Medical Same Day Emergency Care team.The Ward Clerk will be responsible for in-patient clerical filing systems, administrative processes and clear systems of communication to enable the clinical team to function smoothly. Assist the Advanced Clinical Practitioners in collecting up to date information regarding a patients social circumstances and referring onto the relevant disciplines.
To prioritise and manage own workload in a set time frame which involves straightforward facts following established procedures and practices with supervision available when required.To meet and greet patients, visitors, friends, carers and colleagues communicating effectively but being aware of any verbal communication difficulties. To cross reference and check patients details on arrival against the Patient Administration `IT` system, whilst adhering to the Data Protection Act 1998.Frequently inputting data on the various hospital `IT` systems in order to process data for statistics, create and update patient information and make any future Out Patient appointments for patients whilst adhering to the Data Protection Act of 1998 and any individual clinic booking rules.Maintain clear, accurate, timely legible written documents in the Patient Medical Case Notes, if needed.Achieve effective communication with all levels of clerical/administrative staff, secretaries, and the multi-disciplinary professional team, other hospital departments and primary care team. This can be written, verbal, electronic, or by telephone. Occasional exposure to verbal aggression from patients and or their carers.Communicate effectively with all members of the multi disciplinary team, to up date team members on appointment availability.Responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of patients medical case notes and data.
