Job Overview

Ward Clerk – Acute Respiratory/Medical Ward (Ward 9)

Location: Wexham Park Hospital

Contract: 12-month fixed term

Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

Overview

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Ward Clerk to join Ward 9, our busy 38-bed acute respiratory and medical ward. As the first point of contact for patients, relatives, and visitors, you will provide essential administrative support that keeps the ward running smoothly.

In This Pivotal Role, You Will
  • Coordinate communication between healthcare professionals, patients, and families.
  • Manage day-to-day ward administration with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Help create a welcoming and supportive environment for all who visit the ward.

Main duties of the job
  • Carry out general clerical and administrative tasks, ensuring tidy and safe work areas.
  • Manage telephone enquiries, video call entry, and act as first point of contact for patients and visitors.
  • Maintain and update patient records and admission/discharge systems accurately.
  • Liaise with ward staff and other departments (e.g., consultants’ secretaries, pharmacy, transport, porters) to support smooth operations.
  • Provide administrative support to nursing and medical staff, including making appointments and assisting with audits.
  • Report estates/maintenance issues via Planet FM.
