Job description
Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support within the designated area and contribute to the effective running of the ward by concentrating on tasks that directly support administration systems and procedures.
  • Maintain patient records/notes and other ward records using computer‑based systems.
  • Ensure patient demographics and other personal details are updated.
  • Complete the process, dispatch discharge notes and forward patient notes appropriately.
  • Use effective communication skills to answer the telephone according to the agreed standard and give the appropriate information as required.
  • Photocopy/scan documents as required.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality at all times in line with the Trust policy.
  • Assist in the induction and development of others by demonstrating own duties.
  • Undertake other ad‑hoc tasks to support service needs.

Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) checks are required. New starters may join the Trust DBS update service; otherwise, the cost (£49.50) will be reclaimed from the first salary. A six‑month probationary period applies to new employees.
