Job description
Ward Clerk – Maternity Services

Are you a positive, people person? Are you keen to succeed and grow in a role that plays an integral part in enhancing our patients' experience and be the welcoming face of our Maternity wards? Then we would love you to apply for one of our ward clerk positions.


We work alongside the Midwives, Junior Doctors and Consultants to ensure our women receive the best care possible and we are looking for you to bring a positive approach to our team environment.


Successful candidates must have excellent IT skills and experience working in a customer service or healthcare environment. You should demonstrate high levels of personal commitment to facilitate the delivery of a patient focused service. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team. A friendly and conscientious outlook is also required, as is the ability to liaise with all levels of staff and patients.


Shift Pattern


  • Early 07:30 – 15:30

  • Late 13:30 – 21:30

  • Night 21:15 – 07:45


The shifts run across 7 days and include a combination of early, late and night shifts. Night/Saturday/Sunday enhancements will be provided for rostered staff. Shift preferences (day or night) will be discussed at interview and considered.


Location

This role supports the Antenatal and Postnatal ward reception desks at St Mary's Hospital on our Oxford Road Campus.


Responsibilities and Support

The post holder is the single point of contact to meet and greet patients and visitors, providing excellent customer service and support to our medical teams within the department.
