Overview

The Ward Clerk is an integral part of the ward team at North Manchester. We are looking for someone who is proficient, organised, has good timekeeping and excellent people and communication skills. They are required to provide a comprehensive service to patients and perform clerical duties to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities
  • Communicate regularly with patients' relatives and loved ones to provide updates as a point of liaison.
  • Facilitate the attendance of patients onto the ward and update the Hive system.
  • Answer and respond to phone calls in a professional and timely manner.
  • Operate within clearly defined limits of policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines, and improve good working practice where necessary.
  • Work flexibly and handle a varying workload with a methodical approach.
  • Collaborate with consultants, doctors, and nurses to ensure patients receive the best care possible.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Excellent telephone and communication skills.
  • Excellent IT skills and experience working in a customer service or healthcare environment; expected to use IT and communication equipment for call handling and data input.
  • High levels of personal commitment to deliver a patient‑focused service.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
