Job description

The Ward Clerk will have responsibility for administrative duties working on various wards , providing cover for annual leave and sickness. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring an optimum level of efficient admin and clerical support to the nursing and medical staff in a timely and accurate manner. He/she will have contact with patients, carers and members of the multi professional team, as such, he/she will provide front of house services for our unit.

Main duties of the job

Excellent communication skills and working relationships.

Ability to plan and organise self in a methodical and accurate way.

Have a sound knowledge of PAS and E notes.

Ensure notes are requested and filed accurately and in a timely manner, including all patients are admitted, discharged and transferred accurately.

Archive nursing and medical notes.

Ensure notes are coded correctly.

Request and log work repairs via Smart line.

Maintain a clean and tidy workspace at all times.

Order and maintain stock supply using Unit 4.

Arrange and book hospital transport.

Liaise with General office with regards to safe storage of patient valuables.

Provide general clerical support to the ward and Ward Manager, eg. scanning and photocopying.

Participate in data collection and audit as required.
