Overview

Walking Mobile Electrical Engineer - City of London (FM Sector)

The Role

The Walking Mobile Electrical Engineer will be responsible for delivering planned and reactive maintenance across multiple commercial sites. The role is predominantly electrical, with additional involvement in basic mechanical systems and general building maintenance. Working independently, the engineer will manage their daily workload while maintaining high standards of safety, compliance, and service delivery. This position offers a balance of technical work, site variety, and responsibility, without the need for driving between locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned preventative and reactive electrical maintenance across a portfolio of commercial buildings.
  • Fault find and repair electrical systems including lighting, power distribution, emergency lighting, and small power.
  • Support basic mechanical and building services tasks such as pumps, fan units, and simple HVAC components.
  • Undertake general building maintenance and ad hoc handyman duties where required.
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with current regulations, site procedures, and health & safety standards.
  • Complete job reports, compliance records, and maintenance documentation accurately.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, building users, and the FM management team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
The Candidate

The successful candidate will be an electrically qualified engineer with experience working in commercial buildings or the facilities management sector. They will be organised, reliable, and comfortable working independently across multiple sites while maintaining a professional presence at all times.

Essential Requirements
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation or Maintenance.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
  • Proven experience in electrical maintenance within commercial or FM environments.
  • Strong fault-finding skills and a practical approach to problem-solving.
  • Good understanding of health & safety and safe systems of work.
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-focused attitude.
Desirable
  • Test & Inspection qualification (2391 or equivalent).
  • Experience in mobile or multi-site maintenance roles.
  • Familiarity with CAFM systems.
