Job summary

iBC Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Waking Night Support Worker to provide one-to-one support for an adult with learning disabilities in Droylsden. Nights can be challenging; your calm, trauma-informed approach will help the person feel safe and sleep well.

You will follow an individualised plan, support overnight routines, maintain clear records and work with family and health professionals to support long-term wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting people with learning disabilities, autism or behaviours of concern.
• Understanding of PBS and trauma-informed practice.
• Strong de-escalation, communication and observation skills.
• Calm, patient approach and ability to work independently through the night.
• Reliability and strong professional boundaries.
• Experience with personal care when required.
• Belief in the person’s right to choice, dignity and independence.

Responsibilities

• Stay awake and alert during the shift and perform checks per the support plan.
• Support bedtime and overnight routines reflecting the person’s preferences.
• Recognise signs of anxiety or distress and respond with de-escalation; minimize restrictive practice.
• Follow the support plan, risk assessments and PBS plan consistently.
• Provide personal care during the night with dignity and respect.
• Support medication administration per policy.
• Keep the home safe and respond calmly to incidents.
• Complete accurate records and handovers to the day team.
• Work closely with family, healthcare professionals and wider team.
