Job summary

Goldman Sachs Global Banking & Markets is seeking a Vice President Systems Engineer in London to join the Futures Mission Control team. You will own the reliability, availability, latency, and health of production trading services and drive safe deployments in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
• 2+ years in SRE/Production Engineering or DevOps.
• Hands-on experience with Java, C++, and Python.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Experience supporting high-availability production platforms.

Responsibilities

• Production Management: Manage technical and operational risk for a fast-paced, multi-asset electronic trading business.
• System Ownership: Measure and monitor the availability, latency, performance, and overall health of our production trading services.
• DevOps & Configuration Management: Manage application configuration across production environments, maintain configuration-as-code practices, and drive the safe deployment of trading applications using Git-based workflows and SDLC tooling to ensure consistency, traceability, and operational excellence.
• Toil Reduction: Design, develop, and maintain software tools and frameworks to automate manual tasks and improve operational efficiency.
• Pre-Release Engineering: Support services before they go live through system design consulting, capacity planning, and rigorous release reviews.
• Change Management: Safely deploy certified code and new functionalities into the live trading environment.
• Collaboration: Act as a key liaison between trading desks, quantitative strategists, technology teams, and external vendors to resolve day-to-day technical issues.
• Continuous Improvement: Drive initiatives to enhance the stability, performance, and disaster-recovery readiness of supported platforms.
