Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Support the Chief Pricing Officer in evaluating internal and external reinsurance, retrocession, and related transactions, including pricing returns and allocation of profits and risks.
  • Assess the entity’s ability to fulfill obligations under transaction agreements across capital, collateral, liquidity and risk considerations.
  • Evaluate proposed transactions to confirm regulatory authority and adherence to internal underwriting and pricing standards.
  • Prepare and coordinate regulatory submissions with Bermuda Monetary Authority.
  • Coordinate with multiple functions on complex transactions.
  • Ensure Bermuda entity representation on transaction teams.
  • Develop and maintain Bermuda pricing guidelines in collaboration with Enterprise Pricing and Risk.
  • Support underwriting standards through committee materials and governance.
  • Monitor performance against pricing/underwriting expectations and advise on actions.
  • Oversee administration of transactions not handled by regional offices.
  • Maintain understanding of products, risks, accounting methodologies, and capital calculations.
  • Contribute to governance and management objectives for Bermuda entities.
  • Review regulatory changes and assess impact on pricing and governance.
  • Provide expertise for business development, projects, and strategic initiatives.
  • Coordinate regulator, client, auditor requests.

A Brief Overview

Reporting to the Chief Pricing Officer, the Vice President of Pricing will support the underwriting and acceptance of reinsurance business for RGA’s Bermuda-domiciled operating companies. The role will assist in evaluating new reinsurance, retrocession, and related transactions, with particular focus on pricing, risk, capital, collateral, liquidity, and regulatory considerations. The Vice President will partner with internal stakeholders across RGA, support engagement with the Bermuda Monetary Authority, contribute to the governance of the Bermuda legal entities, and act on behalf of the Chief Pricing Officer as delegated.

What you will do
  • Support the Chief Pricing Officer in evaluating internal and external reinsurance, retrocession, and related transactions for the relevant Bermuda legal entity, including the reasonableness of expected pricing returns and, for affiliated transactions, the allocation of expected profits and risks.

  • Assess the legal entity’s ability to perform its obligations under transaction agreements across a range of scenarios, with particular attention to capital, collateral, liquidity, and other material risks.

  • Evaluate proposed transactions to confirm that the legal entity has the appropriate regulatory authority and that applicable internal underwriting and pricing standards are satisfied.

  • Prepare and coordinate regulatory prior-approval submissions and other transaction-related materials, working under the direction of the Chief Pricing Officer and engaging with the Bermuda Monetary Authority as delegated.

  • Coordinate with business development, pricing, legal, investments, treasury, collateral management, finance, valuation, tax, Structured Finance, and other functions on complex transactions.

  • Ensure appropriate Bermuda legal entity representation on transaction working teams and participate directly in those teams as required.

  • In partnership with Enterprise Pricing, develop, implement, and maintain pricing guidelines for the Bermuda legal entities.

  • In partnership with the Risk function, develop, implement, and maintain pricing guidelines for the Bermuda legal entities.

  • Support the Underwriting Committee of the Bermuda legal entities, including preparing materials, coordinating relevant input, and helping maintain and consistently apply underwriting standards.

  • Monitor transaction performance against pricing and underwriting expectations, identify emerging issues, and recommend appropriate actions.

  • Oversee the administration of transactions, including retrocessions, that are not administered by regional offices.

  • Maintain a strong understanding of the products, risks, business flows, accounting methodologies, valuation approaches, and capital calculations associated with the legal entities’ reinsurance and retrocession transactions.

  • Support the management team in establishing and delivering the purpose, goals, and objectives of the Bermuda legal entities and contribute to entity governance activities.

  • Review new and proposed regulatory requirements with relevant members of management and assess their implications for pricing, underwriting, and transaction governance.

  • Provide subject-matter expertise for business development activities, special projects, and strategic initiatives.

  • Coordinate responses to regulator, client, auditor, and other stakeholder requests.

  • Where applicable, hire, train, coach, evaluate, and develop direct reports while fostering a positive and engaged work environment.
