About The Role
We are hiring a VP of Engineering to lead Xe’s consumer and corporate engineering organisation. This is the most senior engineering role below the CTO, leading four Engineering Directors across four segments and shaping the next stage of how Xe builds, ships, and runs technology. This is a transformation leadership role for someone who wants to further modernise a real‑scale payments platform, raise engineering capability, and make AI a practical part of how teams design, build, test, ship, and run software. You will lead an engineering organisation of around 100 people, with a mandate to make Xe faster, more reliable, more AI‑enabled, and easier to build on. The role spans platform modernisation, reduced technical debt, improved developer experience, safer releases, and stronger reliability across distributed teams.
OUR PRINCIPLES
- AMBITION - We dream big, try things out and always ask “why not?” and “what if?” We’re ambitious in our thinking and our delivery
- RESPONSIBILITY - We get involved, bring our perspective, and are always open to new ideas. We take personal responsibility
- COMMUNITY - We value a sense of belonging, trusting each other and encouraging authenticity. We contribute to our community
What You’ll Do
- Own the engineering transformation agenda across consumer and corporate platforms, including platform modernisation, technical strategy, architecture direction, API strategy, engineering standards, and long‑term technology health.
- Lead, coach, and develop four Engineering Directors and their teams, building leadership capability, succession depth, team health, and a culture of ownership across approximately 100 engineers and delivery professionals.
- Build an AI‑enabled engineering organisation by making AI a core transformation pillar and changing how work flows from idea to production across discovery, design, coding, testing, documentation, release, and operations.
- Improve delivery speed, quality, developer experience, and operational resilience by strengthening planning, dependency management, release quality, observability, incident response, and engineering metrics.
- Partner with Product, Architecture, Security, Risk, Compliance, Operations, and business stakeholders to make clear trade‑offs, align priorities, and deliver customer and commercial outcomes.
- Set safe guardrails for innovation in a regulated financial services environment, ensuring AI adoption, software delivery, security, reliability, and compliance improve together.
- Lead through a distributed engineering model, creating clarity, alignment, and consistent delivery standards across regions, domains, and time zones.
Who You Are
- Senior engineering leadership experience across multiple teams, products, or platforms, with a track record of leading through Engineering Directors, or equivalent leaders.
- Strong technical credibility, with the judgement to guide architecture, platform direction, production trade‑offs, engineering standards, and long‑term technology decisions.
- Proven transformation leadership, including faster delivery, stronger reliability, reduced technical debt, improved developer experience, safer releases, and measurable engineering effectiveness.
- AI‑native leadership mindset, with practical use of modern AI engineering tools and a clear point of view on how AI changes software delivery, developer experience, quality, and operating models.
- Ability to act as an AI evangelist for engineering, scaling adoption beyond individual enthusiasts while setting practical guardrails for quality, human verification, security, reliability, and compliance.
- Experience in complex, high‑availability, customer‑facing engineering environments, ideally involving cloud platforms, distributed systems, APIs, integrations, secure delivery, and modern software delivery practices.
- Executive‑level communication and influence, with the ability to simplify complex technical, operational, and regulatory trade‑offs so senior stakeholders can make clear decisions.
- Experience creating clarity and pace in complex engineering organisations, including setting operating rhythms, decision forums, and accountability models that help teams move faster without losing alignment.
Nice‑to‑have
- Experience in cross‑border payments, money movement, banking integrations, or regulated financial services.
- Familiarity with engineering estates using technologies such as .NET, Vue, SQL, Oracle, AWS, and modern engineering tools is helpful, but not essential.
- Experience building engineering operating models, including observability, release quality, incident response, on‑call practices, and delivery governance.

- Competitive Salary & Discretionary Bonus
- 23 days annual leave increasing with service (capped at 28 days)
- Paid day off for your Birthday
- 4% employer pension contribution
- Discounted Euronet ESPP
- Life Cover, Income Protection & Critical Illness cover
