Job summary

Selby Jennings is seeking a Senior Java Developer to own the EMS and Smart Order Router end to end in a greenfield build in London. You will design, implement and optimize a low-latency, high-throughput routing and execution system for FX and digital assets, collaborating closely with traders and quants.

The role emphasizes real ownership, performance tuning and direct exposure to desk needs, with a hybrid London setup and a strong base plus bonus.

Qualifications

• Strong Java, with real low-latency and concurrency experience.
• Background in algorithmic or electronic trading (equities, FX or crypto).
• Experience with execution algos, order routing or SOR.
• Solid grasp of OMS/EMS architecture, FIX and market gateways.
• Comfortable with Linux, networking, memory management and performance profiling.

Responsibilities

• Design and build a low-latency, high-throughput EMS and Smart Order Router in Java.
• Develop execution algorithms such as VWAP, TWAP, POV, liquidity seeking and crossing.
• Build intelligent routing logic based on execution quality, liquidity, latency and cost.
• Work with real-time market data, tick data and multicast feeds.
• Tune for performance, fill ratio and latency under live trading conditions.
• Partner with traders and quants to refine routing logic and build new capabilities.

Senior Java Developer, Execution Algos and Smart Order Router (Low Latency)
London, hybrid

A fast-growing electronic trading firm is building the next generation of its execution technology in London and wants a senior Java engineer to own the EMS and Smart Order Router (SOR) end to end.

This is a greenfield build. You will design and develop a low-latency, high-throughput SOR and execution algo suite from the ground up, working directly with the trading desk across FX and digital asset markets. Real ownership, not maintaining someone else's legacy stack.
