Volunteer to Career Admin Support, Midwifery, West Cumberland Hospital

The closing date is 03 December 2025.

The Maternity unit at West Cumberland Hospital is an integral part of the Trust, providing a full range of antenatal and postnatal care 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Volunteer to Career (VtC) programme allows volunteers to gain essential training and experience, with the aim of progressing to a Casual Admin Officer role on the Bank register.

Job summary

The programme is funded from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and is only open to applicants who reside within the Cumberland Council boundary.

Main duties of the job

Supporting the Ward Clerk with general administration, which may include:

  • Answering telephone enquiries (internal and external) and taking messages
  • Welcoming visitors and handling general enquiries
  • Photocopying and scanning documents
  • Liaising with departments, staff and other organisations
  • Assisting staff and visitors in accessing appropriate resources within the department
  • Collecting items from other departments when required
  • Other administrative tasks relevant to the department, as instructed and trained

You will need to book your four‑hour shift on either Wednesday, Thursday or Friday.
