Job description

Have you had experience of receiving support within our women’s centres?

Do you have lived experience and ready to take the next step in helping others?

Would you love to mentor women in a holistic, gender responsive, trauma-informed way to achieve long-term lasting change?

We are looking for passionate and empathetic women with lived experience and experience of previously receiving support from our women’s centres, to volunteer as peer mentors within our Women’s Centre in Gloucester.

As a Volunteer Peer Mentor, you will help provide emotional support, guidance, and encouragement to mentees alongside support from their keyworker. You will walk alongside your mentee for 6 months in a 1:1 environment for an hour a week and will help with supporting your mentee to identify and work towards SMART goals and objectives, help with any communication or interaction difficulties, and assist staff within group work and facilitation within the centre.

As this is a peer mentor role, you will need experience of receiving support from Nelson Trust Women’s Centres, will have lived experience, and will be in a position where you are ready and able to help others. No other experience is needed as full training will be
