🎭 Volunteer Finance Director

Location: Joseph Rowntree Theatre, York
đź•’ Type: Volunteer | Approx. 30 hours/month

What you’ll be doing:

This is a key role that helps keep our theatre financially healthy. You’ll be:

  • Processing invoices and charges to hirers
  • Preparing budgets and financial reports for the board
  • Reconciling accounts using Xero and our ticketing system
  • Managing bar and front-of-house income (cash and card)
  • Overseeing VAT and Performing Rights payments

You’ll be fully supported and working alongside others—it’s very much a team effort.

What we’re looking for:

We’re looking for someone with a solid financial background who’s ready to bring their expertise to a vibrant community setting.

Essential:
  • A recognised finance or accounting qualification (e.g. AAT, ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW, or equivalent)
  • Experience in finance, bookkeeping, or accounting
  • Organised, reliable, and attentive to detail
  • Willing to work collaboratively and get involved in theatre life
  • Able to commit around 30 hours a month, including trustee meetings and show nights
Desirable:
  • Experience using Xero or similar accounting software
  • Previous charity or trustee experience
