Job summary

A mental health support organization in Accrington is seeking Volunteer Counsellors to provide support for individuals affected by alcohol and substance use. This role requires a minimum level 4 BACP accreditation and offers the chance to make a positive impact in the community. Successful candidates will engage in therapeutic practices adhering to BACP guidelines, maintain confidentiality, and participate in regular supervision. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and will undergo a DBS check.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of BACP ethical frameworks required.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and boundaries.

Responsibilities

  • Provide counselling in a confidential environment.
  • Maintain appropriate boundaries in the therapeutic relationship.
  • Work within level of competency and deliver time-limited counselling.
  • Ensure timely record-keeping as per governance requirements.
  • Receive regular clinical supervision.

Overview

Are you a BACP registered or accredited counsellor (to a minimum of level 4)? Do you want to work in an environment where you can use your counselling skills to achieve the best for people (this is a volunteer role, not a student placement).

We are looking for Volunteer Counsellors who would like the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of people who are directly and indirectly affected by alcohol and substance use. You will be expected to work in accordance with BACP guidelines and within our framework for counselling services, which promotes therapeutic safety and sound clinical governance.

We are looking for volunteers to work in our services in Central and North Lancashire.

Responsibilities
  • Providing counselling within the principles and boundaries of confidentiality.
  • Maintaining appropriate boundaries in the therapeutic relationship.
  • Working within your level of competency.
  • Delivering counselling within a time-limited framework.
  • Ensuring timely records in line with our information governance requirements.
  • Receiving regular clinical supervision and line management.
  • Following our policies and procedures e.g safeguarding children and adults.
  • Understanding and follow BACP ethical frameworks and codes of practice.
